2019: Ogboru, Omo-Agege, Ali vow to sack Okowa …Says Deltans are in a hurry to unseat Okowa

Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress APC, in Delta State have vowed to sack the incumbent Governor of the state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa come 2019 and enthrone a purpose driven and people centered government.

Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, a former Labour Party governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District and Dr (Mrs.) Mariam Ali, all vowed to unseat Okowa at a meeting held at Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The three APC Leaders made this declaration at the Omo-Agege’s country home, when he played host to all the APC councillorship and chairmanship candidates who participated in the recently held LG election in the state.

While addressing APC members, Chief Ogboru assured that if he emerges victorious in the 2019 governorship election, he is going to put in place a process to conduct a proper local government election, where votes will count and be counted without minding which try is in power.

According to him the LG election of January 6, 2018 will not stand the taste of time, “It is time for change, not for the sake of it, those of you who participated in what Okowa did on 6th January, 2018, I want to assure you that it will not stand.

“We will change it. We are going to setup a process to dismantle that election, but let it continue as long as Okowa and his PDP are in power.”

Adding, he said: “I will not be a governor of a state where local government election will not be conducted freely. I hope you know that, if PDP wins, I will give it to them, if it is APC, fine! We are all Deltans.”

He stressed that if the local government election was conducted in a free and fair manner it would have deepen and strengthen democracy in the state, particularly at the grassroot level.

Chief Great Ogboru who described the LG election as man’s inhumanity to man, stressed that there is too much injustice in Delta state which is pulling the state backward since the present democratic dispensation.

He stated further that Deltans have been denied the opportunity to participate actively in politics of the state and mass movement led by himself where the people have always came out victorious, but their mandate always stolen by the PDP.

He however, vowed that this time around nobody can steal the peoples mandate rather there will be a New Delta with him as Governor, adding that with Senator Ovie Omo Agege and Dr (Mrs.) Mariam Ali, there will be new Delta where their hope and aspirations would be met.”

Senator Omo Agege in his remark said that Deltans are in a hurry to unseat Okowa for what he described “As the worst government in the history of Delta State.

“I served as Secretary to the State Government, it has never been like this, from the reality on ground civil servants are not been paid their salaries as at when due, local government workers are the worse off, they are own more than one year, while pensioners are dying daily, DESOPADEC is presently shutdown, this is the worst government in the history of Delta State.”

He noted that the meeting was called to appreciate and salute the courage and gallantry of both councillorship and chairmanship candidates of the party in the local government election.

He told them that they are the true winners of the election even though they were denied certificate of return, “if this can happen in 2019, in an election to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, then PDP is gone.

“In their own election they couldn’t bring result sheets, in an election where both PDP ward chairmen and local government party chairmen were both Electoral Officers and Returning Officers you were able to hold them to ransom, I salute your courage.

“You have shown to the World that you own the land. This fraud will choke their throat in couple of months. You have not heard the last on the local government election,” he added.

Omo-Agege advised the party faithful to relax their mind and save their energy for the battle of 2019,”where the elections are going to be conducted by INEC, where the Police, Army and others cannot be use against us that I can assure. APC own the Federal government so by 2019 they cannot try this nonsense. It is going to be a different ball game entirely.”

On her part Dr (Mrs) Mariam Ali, wife of former National Chairman of the PDP described Governor Okowa as a coward and a man that should not be trusted because he hardly keeps to his words.

According to her “Okowa and his cohorts are cowards, when Okowa ask you to sit down run; if he asks you to run sit down. We must take over Government House Asaba in 2019. Salaries are not paid, they are sharing our money.

She stated further that, “If PDP gives you money collect it, it’s your money, but make sure Okowa is swept out of Government House in 2019.

Don’t allow Okowa to divide you. United we stand, divided we fall. The removal of Okowa is a task that must be done and achieve,” Chief Mrs Ali, who is an APC senatorial aspirant for Delta North Senatorial District added.

At the well attended meeting, Mr Valentine Egbe represented the State Chairman, Prophet Jones Erhue, others present are, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, APC State Electoral Committee Chairman and Members, State Woman Leader, Fred Obe, Chris Agaga, Patrick Ighomrore, John Enakhiru, Alex Imarah, Ufuoma Okenini, Chief Itsekor, Barr Hero Owhirirhen, Chief Ofudje, Chief Francis Aguinigho all the Councillorship and Chairmanship candidates across the 25 LGAs were present.
