Anirah Foundation in collaboration with Rotary Club, empowers women

Rotary Club of Sapele Metropolitan District 9141 Nigeria, in Collaboration with Anirah Foundation , a Non governmental Skill Development, Acquisition and empowerment body, has empowered 20 persons in various markets spread across Sapele in Delta State as well as renovating the immunisation Unit of the Sapele Central Hospital.

Addressing Newsmen at the Central Hospital, the District Governor-Elect of District 9141 of Rotary International, Rotarian Adeyemi Oladokun said the body was committed in making positive changes in the Society.

“That is why we have always invested in people oriented projects and in collaboration with Anirah foundation this time we have decided to reach out to the less previledged women in empowerment and carry out the renovation of the Immunisation Unit”

Chief Felix Anirah, founder of the group, said the gesture was to see that majority of indigent women involved in small scale selling are reached out to, especially the plantain sellers, so as to get extra support to fend for their children and to prevent them from going wayward in society.

“Our interest today is the warfare of indigent woman. We targeted the women on the popular maxim that if you empower women, you empower a nation. Among these women, you probably have widows or those married but act as breadwinners because their husbands are unemployed or have no meaningful sources of income.

“We expect that with the little we were able to offer, they can expand their trade and improve their finances to provide basic necessities and education for their children. We don’t want a situation where inadequacies will force these children on the street to face all forms of dangers and abuses.”

The President of Rotary Club of Sapele Urban District 9141, Rotarian Judith Akpomejevwe Nwachukwu, who spoke too, noted that rotary club was determined to bring succour to the society, and empowering the women in collaboration with Anirah Foundation was one of the many ways, the group has planned to touch people’s lives.
