A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Delta State, Engr. Oris Oghwerhi has charged the Urhobos and particularly the people of Ethiope federal constituency to take seriously the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC continuous voters registration exercise.
While addressing journalist at Jesse (Idjere) in Ethiope West local government area, Oghwerhi stated that the import of the voter’s card cannot be over emphasized because in a democracy, the voter’s card is your voice and power to determine how you want to be governed.
He therefore enjoined the Urhobo nation and the Ethiope federal constituency to take the advantages of the registration exercise by mobilizing children that have attend 18years and those who missed the last exercise to go all out to INEC off at their local government headquarters and get registered.
According to the APC chieftain, “rigging and winning of elections begins with voters registration, if the Urhobo nation and the APC Delta must change the present PDP-led government that has held Delta down, it is important that our people come out in their numbers to register.”
Because this time around with the amendment of the electoral law, our vote will count, and it will be one man, one vote. So, it is important that we mobilise our people to go and register so that they will have a say of who govern them,” Oghwerhi added.
Recalled, INEC in a statement signed by Mrs. Amina Zakari, INEC National Commissioner said that the registration exercise would commence as from April 27 across the country and would take place from 9 am to 3 pm on weekdays (Mondays to Fridays), excluding public holidays.
