The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe has said that the vote of implicit confidence passed on the Okowa administration by royal fathers of Urhobo Nation in Delta Central Senatorial District is a direct clearance for the re-election of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa in 2019.

He stated in a statement that the kings who are domiciled in eight local government areas have the mandate of the good people of Delta Central to pass the vote of implicit confidence on the Governor at the palace of the Orodje of Okpe on Thursday 17th May, 2018; and as such cleared any and every form of doubts as to who the Urhobo people will be voting for in 2019.

According to the EA Communications to Gov Okowa who hails from Agbon Kingdom in Delta Central, “with this resolution and vote of implicit confidence on the Governor by the royal fathers, the Urhobo People of Delta Central shall be voting to re-elect the governor in 2019.

“The coast is now clear, now Urhobo votes shall not be divided, the Governor who happens to be the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shall be sworn-in for a second term on May 29, 2019 after his landslide victory.

“Our royal fathers have spoken and so be it. We shall adhere strictly to the choice of our kings by ensuring that Gov Okowa is re-elected to enable him consolidate on the remarkable achievements so far recorded in all aspects of the State economy.

“Urhobo Nation is not ready for divide and rule politics, going forward. The mess and bartered image of Urhobo Nation occasioned by 2015 Uvwiamuge Declaration will not be allowed to rear its ugly head in 2019; which is why our royal fathers decided to pass implicit vote of confidence on Gov Okowa as a necessary pre-election position statement to sensitize the people of Delta central.

“Gov Okowa has demonstrated uncommon capacity in his good governance strides by adopting the Townhall Meetings openness in governance and for ensuring regular interface with members of the press on a regular and quarterly basis.

“This administration has been and shall continue to be people focused, transparent and result oriented as can be seen from the prudent management of financial, material and human resources.

“Infrastructure development has singled out Gov Okowa as the first governor to embark upon over 165 roads rehabilitation and or construction projects, created thousands of jobs directly and indirectly through the Youth Agriculture and Skills Training Entrepreneurship Programmes (YAGEP and STEP) and other socioeconomic remodelling policies and programmes under the smart agenda.

“We commend our traditional rulers for leading us in the right direction to avoid double speaking, rumour mongering and all form of doubts as to who the Urhobo people shall be voting for in the forthcoming general elections.

“The Urhobo people of Delta central are in full support of the vote of implicit confidence on Gov Okowa and shall give him our votes in 2019 without fear or favour as responsible and obedient subjects and children of our our royal fathers,” Oghenesivbe assured.

It will be recalled that at a meeting to brief Delta Central traditional rulers about recent developments and achievements of government by Gov Okowa on Thursday 17th May, 2019; at the magnificent palace of the Orodje of Okpe, the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Engr. Mike Omeru, Ukori1, after commending the governor for keeping electioneering promises and good governance strides, moved a motion of implicit confidence on Gov Okowa.

The motion which was applauded by royal fathers in eight local government areas in Delta central was seconded by the Okobaro of Ughiemwen, His Royal Majesty Mathew Ediri Egbi and supported by all 18 traditional rulers present at the meeting.
