As part of its drive to ensure that the people of Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms in Warri South West and Warri North Local Government Areas of Delta state gets good medical care, the Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation EGCDF, has purchased medical equipments worth about N39 million for Oporoza and Tsekelewu Cottage hospitals.
Speaking during the distribution of the equipments to the hospitals, Executive Chairman of EGCDF, Comrade Jude Ebitimi Ukori said the equipments were purchase by the EGCDF under the sponsorship of Chevron Nigeria Limited with about N39 million for speedy take off of both hospitals.
He said the equipments includes patient beds, computers, power generators, office furniture, diagnostic ultrasounds, stress systems, surgical lights, sterilizers, patient monitors, defibrillators, anesthesia machines and among other valuable medical equipments were supplied to Oporoza and Tsekelewu cottage hospitals.
According to Ukori, “now that we have purchase these medical equipments, we want the Delta State Government not to renege on her earlier promise to take over the running of the hospitals for the benefits of the people of Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdom”.
Ukori further appealed to the Delta state government to as a matter of urgency deploy personnel to the two cottage hospitals in order for the equipments they bought with huge amount of money not to go bad.
He lamented, “Presently the people of the oil rich Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms in Delta state have no place to access medical care. In case of any emergency we have to travel down to Sapele or Warri through speed boats for over two hours before we can get medical care. That is why we have continued to appeal to the Delta state government to take over the running of the hospitals since they have been equipped to a standard”.
