A group known as save Sapele has petitioned Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state and the DESOPADEC chairman over a law maker (name withheld) who has turned himself to a DESOPADEC contractor with most of the projects executed in shady state.
According to the group in their petition letter to both leaders, dated 21/02/2014 and was signed by the President, Mr. Omasan Mabiaku, noted that from 2007 till date the said lawmaker has concentrated in carrying contracts from DESOPADEC without doing it to specification
as stated in the DESOPADEC contract law.
In their words, “we which to draw the attention of the Governor and the chairman to the poor and shady jobs been carried out in Sapele over the years.
“Some of the projects constructed below expectation by the commission through this lawmaker include; Esiri road off Ugbeyiyi road, Ogaga road in Amukpe, Okirigbagha in Okirighwre, Iretor road and many other.
We wish to state clearly that, we want both leaders and the DESOPADEC team to kindly come and inspect this roads and other projects executed by DESOPADEC in Sapele.
In a similar development, over two thousand youths of the group protest along the major streets in Sapele, while declaring that DESOPADEC must immediately stop the lawmaker and its cohort who have turned DESOPADEC as a money making venture to the detriment of the Sapele people.
