The leader of APC in Delta State and the 2015 APC Governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has said that the reported endorsement by Chief James Ibori of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa for a second term as Governor of Delta State come 2019 didn’t come to the party as a surprise.
Emerhor in a press release issued by his Media Aide, Aghogho Abraham Orotomah, noted that with the open endorsement of Okowa for a second term in office by the former governor, Ibori have proven wrong, the rumour going around that he has intention of joining the APC.
The APC leader added that the party is prepared to meet Ibori, Okowa and the PDP at the 2019 poll to determine which party now owns Delta State political landscape.
In his word: Such endorsement did not come as a surprise! Chief Ibori is the alter ego and defacto principal of PDP in Delta State and is not unexpected for him to promote as always, the interest of PDP and Gov. Okowa.
“This, however, put a lie to the deception and misinformation being peddled by certain quarters that Ibori harbours any sympathy for APC either in Delta State or at the Federal level.
“ We in APC Delta State have anticipated this endorsement long ago and are quite prepared to meet him, Okowa and the PDP at the 2019 elections to finally determine which party now owns Delta State political landscape,” he added.
It would be that at the former Governor, on March 11, during the Delta Central welcome rally in his honour, at Oghara declared his support for that the incumbent Governor of the state, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to return in 2019 to complete the eight (8) years tenure of Delta North.
According to, “Ibori one good turn deserves another and that Delta North had in time past supported Delta Central and Delta South to serve eight years tenure, adding that the principles of equity, justice and good conscience demands that the Urbobos of Delta Central should support Okowa and Delta North to complete their eight (8) years so as to enable Urhobo enjoy Delta North support in 2023.
