The Chairman of Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF), Comrade Jude Ebitimi Ukori has advised those who indulged in illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalization in the area to stop in order for their sole sponsor, Chevron Nigeria Limited to thrive in their oil business.
Ukori who made this known during a familiarization tour/town hall meeting at Azama, Benikrukru and Kokodiagbene communities, thanked the people for their efforts in bringing them on board as executives and members of the foundation.
He stated that they are poised to promote sustainable development of all their communities and attraction of empowerment opportunities to all deserving indigenes of the communities, adding that they are not ignorant of the enormous developmental needs to which they are committed in working to fulfill.
According to him, “we can only achieve all these through the people’s support in ensuring peaceful environment for Chevron Nigeria Limited. So let us jointly protect the oil and gas facilities within and around our communities. We must all say no to illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism. When we have done the needful, we can confidently demand for the best from the International Oil Companies and government in terms of employment, empowerment opportunities and increase in funding for developmental activities”.
Ukori assured the people of the determination of his led executives to equitably execute both infrastructural and non-infrastructural projects across their communities in phases.
While assuring the people of the executives’ stance to revamp the micro credit scheme in order to boost their local economy, Ukori urged all contractors of ongoing projects to speed up execution and get them ready for the commissioning exercise.
